A Maze in London
AMAZING LONDON is all about making London the most playful city in Europe by 2015 - to achieve this we need your help. Not least in identifying those places that you feel are already playful, and helping to make those places not yet playful, more playful!
One way we are inviting you take part is joining us to design and build mazes in London? Be creative, have fun and get fit! Mazes have been a source of fun and intrigue for centuries. The most famous is Hampton Court built for Cardinal Wolsey in c1514 but as he lost royal favour the palace and the maze was taken over by HenryVIII.
It’s amazing what you can build a maze from: walls, hedges, turf, books and crop fields are just a few ideas. Why not set yourself a challenge to build a maze out of something truly original. Recycle or make an environmental stand with your maze. At AMAZING LONDON we are thinking of building one with CDs and DVDs as they become obsolete and discarded but what ideas have you got as a great maze challenge?

Getting about London can be like finding your way through a maze. How about a maze on the puzzle page of a daily paper, a theatre set designed as a maze, or ceramic tiles, a carpet or a mosaic – let us know of your favourite mazes and playful spaces.
If you think you can amaze your community with your creativity, you need to get designing. All your entries will be published in our online gallery. If you need some help, then check out our other pages for suggestions and ideas.

AMAZING LONDON was one of the most innovative ideas in an NHS London Social Innovation Competition in May 2010 – help us make London more amazing by spreading the word and sending in suggestions and amazing designs for mazes!
